A beautiful rural location

Set in the beautiful Shropshire countryside, just outside the market town of Shrewsbury, we offer a peaceful retreat where you have the opportunity to do as much or as little as you want.

Ruth’s Retreat is situated close to the Shropshire Hills, in particular The Caradoc, The Lawley, The Stiperstones, and The Longmynd. The Shropshire Hills is an area of oustanding natural beauty with lots of great opportunities for walking, cycling, and generally getting lots of great fresh air!

Despite our tranquil rural location, the beautiful market of Shrewsbury is only a 15-minute drive away from Ruth’s Retreat.

Shrewsbury, situated in the loop of the River Severn, is steeped in history. The birthplace of Charles Darwin, its skyline is dominated by its many church spires, the Market Hall and Shrewsbury Castle. It has a great café culture, where bars and restaurants are nestled in between black and white buildings, open spaces, and stretch along the banks of the River Severn. Shrewsbury is famous for its many shuts and passages, has a wonderful Museum and Art Gallery, and is renowned for is beautiful park, The Quarry, which is circled by the river and a great place to take a relaxing walk.

To save the hassle of parking within the town, there is a Park and Ride bus which picks up at the carpark next to Meole Brace Retail Park. Contact numbers for a taxi can be provided if you wish to travel by taxi.

Ruth’s Retreat is just 10 minutes away from Meole Brace Retail Park where you can find Sainsbury’s, Marks & Spencer Food, Boots the Chemist, Next, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, TK Maxx, Argos and Sports Direct to name a few. For those holiday makers who wish to stay in their accommodation, we have plenty of contact numbers for local takeaways who will deliver hot food direct to the Retreat.

National Trust’s Attingham Park, is a popular venue with different events organised during the year.  There is a walled garden, tea shop and some lovely walks around the estate.

Battlefield Shrewsbury is another point of interest, where the Battle of Shrewsbury in 1403 was fought.  Today visitors can see falconry displays, visit the farm shop, deli and café which comes highly recommended.
